Acids
Acids
Category Overview
Industrial acids dissolve inorganic scale, passivate stainless steel, adjust pH in process and waste streams, and act as reagents across manufacturing. Selecting the right acid depends on the deposit being removed and the metallurgy of the equipment.
Mineral acids such as nitric, sulfuric, and hydrochloric deliver aggressive descaling power, while organic acids like citric and glycolic offer safer handling and better material compatibility for sensitive systems.
We supply technical, food-grade, and reagent-grade acids with the concentration and packaging that fit your dosing systems and containment.
Typical Applications
- Descaling boilers, heat exchangers, and cooling towers
- Stainless steel passivation after fabrication
- Acid CIP for mineral and beerstone deposits
- Wastewater and process pH adjustment
- Metal surface preparation and pickling
Representative Chemicals
-
Nitric Acid (42° Bé / 67%)
Passivation and acid CIP for stainless systems. — Technical and food grade
-
Phosphoric Acid (75-85%)
Scale removal, rust conversion, and pH control.
-
Sulfuric Acid (93-98%)
Bulk pH adjustment and process reagent.
-
Hydrochloric Acid (31-35%)
Aggressive descaling and regeneration of ion exchange resin.
-
Citric Acid
Mild organic acid for chelation, descaling, and food applications.
-
Glycolic Acid
Low-odor organic acid for iron and scale removal in boilers and wells.
-
Acetic Acid
Process acid and mild pH adjustment.
-
Sulfamic Acid
Dry acid for safer handling in scale removal applications.
Caustics & Alkalis
Caustics & Alkalis
Category Overview
Caustics and alkalis are the workhorse chemistries of industrial cleaning and pH control. They saponify fats and oils, dissolve protein soils, neutralize acidic waste streams, and serve as reagents in dozens of manufacturing processes.
Because these products are highly corrosive and generate heat on dilution, handling, storage, and dilution equipment matter as much as the chemistry itself. We help customers match concentration and packaging to their existing tank, pump, and dosing infrastructure.
Available in bulk tanker, tote, drum, and pail quantities with consistent assay and full documentation.
Typical Applications
- Alkaline CIP and washdown cleaning
- Wastewater pH adjustment and neutralization
- Scrubber solutions for acid gas control
- Paint and coating stripping
- Process reagent in manufacturing and refining
Representative Chemicals
-
Sodium Hydroxide 50% Liquid
Standard caustic soda solution for cleaning and neutralization. — Bulk, tote, and drum
-
Sodium Hydroxide Beads/Flake
Dry caustic for on-site make-down and low-volume use.
-
Potassium Hydroxide 45%
Caustic potash for soaps, biodiesel, and specialty cleaning.
-
Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash)
Mild alkali for pH buffering and water treatment.
-
Sodium Metasilicate
Alkaline builder with corrosion inhibition for soft metals.
-
Potassium Carbonate
Buffering agent and process alkali.
-
Built Alkaline Detergents
Formulated blends with surfactants, chelants, and builders.
-
Sodium Bicarbonate
Gentle buffering and neutralization where pH control must stay mild.
Food & Beverage Sanitation
Food & Beverage Sanitation
Category Overview
Food and beverage sanitation chemistry covers the cleaners, sanitizers, and processing aids used to keep production lines, tanks, and packaging equipment in a validated, food-safe condition. These products are formulated to remove protein, fat, mineral, and biofilm soils quickly while remaining compatible with stainless steel, gaskets, and other food-contact materials.
Most plants run these chemistries through clean-in-place (CIP) and clean-out-of-place (COP) systems on a fixed sanitation schedule. Concentration, temperature, contact time, and mechanical action all have to work together, so product selection is driven by the soil profile, water hardness, and the equipment being cleaned.
ChemWest supplies food-grade and FDA-compliant sanitation chemistries with the documentation plants need for audits, including Safety Data Sheets and specification sheets on request.
Typical Applications
- Clean-in-place (CIP) circuits for tanks, lines, and fillers
- Foam and gel cleaning of exterior equipment and floors
- No-rinse sanitizing of food-contact surfaces
- Bottle and keg washing
- Membrane and heat exchanger cleaning
